Clinton Road – Passaic County, NJ

There is a sharp turn known as Dead Man’s Corner. If you turn this corner, you’ll encounter Ghost Boy Bridge. Legend says that if you toss a coin into the waterway under the bridge, the ghost of a little boy throws it back! As you travel further down this road, you’ll find the ruins of Jungle Habitat and Cross Castle. Animals from this disowned theme park apparently made the adjoining woods their home and can attack humans, while the castle is said to be a center for satanic activity.

Archer Avenue – Chicago, IL

A road in Chicago known for spooktacular activity, Archer Avenue is well-known for phantom horseback riders and the occasional ghost monk or two. Perhaps the most famous story from this haunted road is that of Resurrection Mary, a “vanishing hitchhiker” who was returning home from the Oh Henry Ballroom when she was fatally hit by a vehicle. She reportedly stands on the side of the road in a white dress, with some drivers claiming to pick up this ghostly hitchhiker. However, as soon as the driver reaches Resurrection Cemetery, Mary disappears.

Highway 299 – Northern California

Stopping while driving on Highway 299 in Northern California is not recommended, as this road, which spans the state from East to West, is undeniably spooky. The most haunted section is located between Whiskeytown Lake and Old Shasta City, the latter of which features the ruins of the local bakery, blacksmith center, courthouse/jail, and other buildings. The ghosts of criminals who were hanged at the courthouse supposedly haunt this area. If you make it to Whiskeytown Lake, you might spot ghostly former inhabitants. The lake covers an abandoned town, as a long-ago dam installation caused flooding and residents to leave. Yet not every resident left, and their spirits haunt the lake.
